About the Yarn

YarnTrekker is hand-dyed in Austin TX, using professional dyes before being heat set and rinsed thoroughly. All yarn is hand-dyed, rinsed, twisted, labelled, and packed by me, and not outsourced to a dye house or independent contractors. Some colorways are repeatable, and all are dyed in small lots. Please contact me if you need a large number of skeins dyed for the same project.

About the Artist

I’m Aimée, the solopreneur* here at YarnTrekker. I’ve been dyeing yarn and my hair since well into the last century, and I’m glad you found me. Unlike dogs, humans see 1 million colors**, and I celebrate that with every colorway I build. Inspiration comes from all over the place: underwater ecosystems, museums, urban sketches, nature hikes, vibrant flowers and foods. I’ve taught art, sold plants, staffed a friend’s food truck, and designed costumes. Now, in 2025, I’m dyeing yarn so that we can make beautiful things and add joy to our daily lives. Join me in the fight against beige!

*Yup, I agree. It’s a terrible word.
**And still, Pantone chose brown for their color of the year.

October 2025

The Dead, The Living, and the space Between.

I was a sad skeleton as Austin's Viva La Vida parade got cancelled, and rescheduled. I soothed my sorrow with a day trip to Muertos Fest in San Antonio. The same electric hot pink keeps calling to me, it's everywhere. The smell of marigolds was vegetal and wild. I must try to grow them next year!
